Thank you for considering us as adoptive parents for your precious child. We hope that this letter will provide insight as to who we are and how we want to open our hearts and family to your child.
We have been married for more than 15 years and have a 4-year-old son through the blessing of adoption. We met and dated in college and married a month after Amy graduated. Josh had already graduated. Josh is an attorney and Amy owns a small financial planning firm with her dad that she runs from home.
Our parents think that we bring out the best in each other. We were friends before we started dating and genuinely enjoy spending time together. We enjoy following and discussing current events, movie watching, cheering on our college team, and just being together.
Josh enjoys all things electronic including building computers and flying small drones in the yard, and spending time with friends. Amy loves to cook, especially baking, going on walks, swimming, and recently took up knitting (so far she has made one scarf and one tangled mess, but it is fun to learn new things). We love playing games with our son. He loves all sports, cars, and building towers (he especially likes knocking the towers down). We have a large extended family that we are very close to they have welcomed our son with open arms and are excited that we are adopting again.
We are actively involved in our church and are on the leadership team for several ministries within the church. We have an incredible community group through the church and enjoy game nights and fellowship with them on a regular basis.
Our home is in the suburbs of a large city but is tucked away with sidewalks leading to the library, post office, and downtown area. When the weather is nice, we love to walk downtown to the park and playground or to one of the many events put on by the city. We love that we are tucked away but still minutes from anything that we would want to do or see.
We took a few pictures of the nursery and playroom (which are in the pictures sections) so that you would have an idea of the environment in our home. We have kept the nursery gender neutral at this point but we plan to add extra touches depending on if it is a girl or a boy. Our son has been using his stuffed puppy to practice gentle rocking in the swing. The picture above the crib says “Read me a story, tuck me in tight, give me three kisses, and whisper goodnight”.
The playroom is only this clean at the beginning and end of the day, but that’s okay. It is a fun place where we play puzzles, drive cars and trains, and turn shipping boxes into rocket ships. We love books and have book baskets and bookshelves all over the house. Both of our moms were teachers and read to us often and we have carried on that tradition. We hope to spark a love of reading from an early age.
While we cannot promise to be perfect, we do promise to do everything within our power to provide a safe and loving home for a child. We look forward to singing lullabies and playing peek-a-boo. We have visions of helping with homework and reading stories. No matter what, we will encourage, guide, and love your precious gift to us always.
Knowing you face some difficult decisions, please know that we are praying for you even though we have not met. Whatever your decision, we want what is best for you and your child. Thank you for taking the time to consider us as possible parents for your child.
Josh and Amy
