About Our Family

We have been happily married for nearly 5 years! Fun fact: we were each other's only date from Match.com and joke that we should submit our story for one of their commercials!

We live in a rural and friendly area where my family and I have lived for over 20 years. Both of us were raised in North Carolina and our immediate families live locally so we enjoy spending time with them whenever we can. We recently relocated to an old farmhouse on 3 acres of land. My parents purchased the 20 additional acres behind our property and are planning to build their home there in the coming months.

Trey is a member of two nearby fire departments. His passion has always been firefighting and he has quickly risen up the ranks within his departments. We are praying that he will soon hold the title of "Captain". I spent 9 years working as a pediatric nurse at one of our area's hospitals until this past year when I took some time off to care for my grandmother. This past summer held some of the sweetest and saddest memories of our time together. After she passed, I took a position as a nursing supervisor within a pediatric practice which has been a wonderful opportunity for me. I still get to interact with children which is my passion and encourage the staff to perform to the best of their abilities. My coworkers work well together and are always making me laugh. The hours are extremely flexible too!

We have three dogs who act more like humans than animals! We have had each of them since they were just puppies - the littlest one came from a litter of puppies that I fostered for a nearby animal rescue. All of the boys love playing outside. They all adore children and are always so gentle and patient with them when they are around. We have also recently added 10 chickens and 2 bunnies to our little farm family!

Since we both come from small families, we consider our friends to be our family as well. In most of my friend circles, their children refer to the rest of us as “aunties” and I love it. Our church family is also very important to us and we are excited to join their adoptive and foster family ministry in the near future!

All of our families have been so supportive throughout this adoption journey so far and they are so excited to see what this next year holds for us! We all cannot wait to welcome a new addition into our lives with open arms! My parents are especially excited and have already decided that they want to be called "Mimi" and "Poppy"!
